Fun Find: 'Pacific Rim' Trailer Gets 'Power Rangers' Theme Song

By: Derrick Deane on December 17, 2012 at 11:40AM Comments (13)

The ingredients are all there. Giant robots, giant monsters, a band of courageous fighters who climb into said robots to do battle. No we're not talking about the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, but someone took it upon themselves to edit the theme song from the popular '90s franchise over Guillermo del Toro's recent Pacific Rim trailer.

The end result is less gloom and doom and more of a "let's kick some monster butt" attitude. Check it out for yourself and, just for kicks, the original trailer is below.

Pacific Rim hits theaters July 12, 2013.

I hope the "Power Ranger" howbeit Classic theme song is not gonna be added to the PACIFIC RIM movie for it does not suit it. When seeing the new HOBBIT movie/it was awesome (this past weekend)..'And the Pacific Rim new trailer (the Original trailer, above I saw) and it's Epic serious..'does not have singing to it!! Please keep it that way.

I'm surprise Warner Bros didn't release this trailer last week so it could be shown with The Hobbit

Yea, they released last Wednesday but we were in the midst of awards coverage, so it never got posted... I saw it attached to the 35mm presentation of The Hobbit last night.

Thats odd because when I saw The Hobbit, they didn't show this preview (which odd considering the trailers they showed were all the new trailers that you guys posted last week, Lone Ranger, Star Trek: Into Darkness, Man of Steel, ect.) I saw the 48fps showing of The Hobbit last Saturday.

Hmm, that's weird. The trailers that screened before the 35mm version I saw last night were Star Trek, Pacific Rim, Epic and Beautiful Creatures. Maybe it just varies per theater chain/format/part of the country.

I saw it at a Cinemark in Chicago, in 48fps 3D (only The Hobbit its self was shown in 48fps) and of course in Illinois and the trailers I saw on it were The Lone Ranger, Oblivion, After Earth, Star Trek: Into Darkness, Jack: The Giant Killer and Man of Steel. But maybe your right, it depends on where you live and what theater chain.

I'm watching in IMAX at AMC later this week. I'll see if the slate of trailers changes. The 35mm was screened at Arclight, who generally don't bombard audiences with 12 trailers before the actual film begins screening. Hopefully that Man of Steel one appears in the IMAX slate.

Yeah and you'll also get to see the 9 minute Star Trek preview which I didn't see when I saw it (I saw it in Cinemark's XD 3D). But Man of Steel has to be the biggest trailer to be attached to The Hobbit (Other then Star Trek). It would be awesome to see a trailer for The Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug attached to Man of Steel.

Probably not. After seeing the rapid camera movement in some of those action sequences, I think I'll pass. I'll just wait for James Cameron to melt my eyeballs with his Avatar sequel at 60, 72 or whatever fps he's going to shoot it in.

Wow, that's incredible that he's going to film Avatar 2 and on at that fast of a frame rate. Its like Peter Jackson just comes up with something faster then normal movies are filmed and James Cameron is going to surpass that in under 10 years! To me, I thought 48fps was cool but it tends to make everything fast at first and much brighter too but your eyes soon adjust and it feels like any other movie.

Did not see the 9 min Star Trek trailer that was promised to all the screen formats. Oh, well that's fine the new trailers that were shown were spectacular and the HOBBIT movie was Epic awesome!! Looking forward to seeing 2 & 3 of the Hobbit films and new Star Trek etc.,. Peace!!

Funny thing is, if they actually did a serious power ranger movie like this, it might be pretty cool. But I am a big kid, so who knows.
