The biggest news of the week obviously revolves around the next Superman movie, which just landed Zack Snyder as its director. Warner Bros. is itching to get started on the film as soon as possible in order to make a winter 2012 release date, and so we should expect the first wave of casting to begin within the next month or so. Naturally the million-dollar question revolves around who they’ll actually get to play the new Man of Steel. Snyder already revealed that Brandon Routh won’t be returning, so if that’s the case, who will it be?
Superman, Channing Tatum, John Krasinski, Nathan Fillion, Zack Snyder
Fanboy Fix, The Five
Understandable; but still those are critical parts to Spidermans development.
zachary levi is the best actor to play superman he would be a amazing clark kent
I agree 100%. He has that ability to go from aloof shy nerd guy to superhero with just the change of his smile, much less the rest of his acting abilities that he has proven on Chuck.
Zachary Quinto. He has already played the "mild mannered" Spock and the Super-sometimes-hero Sylar. I'm sure that playing CK and Superman would be a breeze. He has a look that is conforming enough for the role but unique enough to set him apart from the other supermen. Give him a few months and enough money to make it worth it and I'm sure he can pull a Taylor Lautner and bulk up for the part. And if you want to ruin the movie by getting ANY of those five people OR Tom Welling to play the part, we might as well call up Jack Black and have him dance around in the red, yellow, and blue. I'm sure he would love to work some Tenacious D into the movie somehow. P.S - I can't believe that no one, joking or serious, mentioned Dean Cain.
I think that Zachary Levi would be a perfect fit. He already does a great job as both characters on the sitcom 'Chuck'. My second choice would have to be Nathan Fillion.
Sorry, I must ask . . . has Tom Welling even been asked if he'd do it? He would definitely but one of my top choices.
For some odd reason he keeps being over-looked due to the show's demands I'm assuming. The show is ending; so they should look at him. He can do the darker stuff which we've seen in Season 8 with Doomsday, Season 9 with Zod, and Season 10 with Darkseid. Which Nolan tends to do darker, so I think Welling should highly be considered.
Bruce Campbell plus CG de-aging = pure win
Welling, perfect fit... Plus the smallville audience is highly familiar with him.
out of the choices, i'd say fillion is the only one that looks like a good candidate. still, i hate it when they switch out main characters in sequential movies. why not routh?
Wow, this has got to be fake. No way do any of those guys even slightly resemble a Superman character. Warner Brothers could not possibly have narrowed it down to these five, not that they are not attractive actors, but they do NOT fit the Superman look, which I am a huge fan of.
If a Superman movie is made with any of these actors, I know I will not be the only one to say that I will not be going to see the film.
What @ Garfield from FACE movie? He is stunningly handsome; can act. DO IT! .............pass the popcorn............pls.
I think, though he is still young, that Shia LaBeouf showed the characteristics of a good Superman in the three Transformer movies. He was heroic at times and" who me" at others.
How about Tom Welling is a pretty good clark kent and superman
Yeah none of the choices above have a Superman quality to them. Tom wWelling would be a better choice or Brandon Routh.
To tell the truth I don't think any of these actors will do justice to the part of Superman, Christopher reeves did the first set of Superman movies and we know he won't be back to do any more.
then we had Brandon Routh who did a GREAT job as Superman. I think they need to offer Brandon Routh more money or whatever it takes to get him to play Superman again. having to many actors Playing the same role kind of ruins the whole fantasy. just take a look at the Batman movies they were good movies but you lose that special something (can't explain what it is) when you have to many actors playing the same role.
Routh was paid 1,000,000 million dollars (I heard when it was released) for signing the role of Superman for Superman Returns. That's a lot of money for a mediocre performance.
I don't know anything about Superman so my following suggestion probably isn't worth much... I'm actually just posting it to gather a more educated opinion (in comparison to my own) regarding who should be cast as Superman...
but what about Zachary Quinto?
Channing Tatum should play the new Superman! He's one of the best act of the world!
You are joking right? Tatum is hardly an actor he is just a personality actor with a handsome face.
Your being too kind, handsome face no personality.
My 1st choice would be Welling as well. Come on the guy has been living and breathing as the "Big Blue Boy Scout" for years, why stop now. Other than that I would say Fillion. He has that square jawed look that is Superman and I have no doubt he can play a solid and accurate Clark. I Just dont want to see Bosworth as Lois again. She was no where near convincing. Krasinski while funny, doesnt strike me as Superman. He could play Clark but not "Supes" I gotta say Reeves left huge shoes to fill and say what you will but Welling has done a good job of taking the role and making it anew. Welling should easily be the first choice. What about a villian. Lex is tired....Doomsday anyone?
NON OF THESE GUYS LISTED HERE FIT THE ROLE! THE STUDIO SHOULD RETAIN BRANDON ROUTH.HE IS AN EXCELLENT PORTRAYAL AS SUPERMAN SINCE CHRIS REEVES!
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
