Fanboy Fix: 'Watchmen' Sequel, 'Captain America' and 'Iron Man 2'

Is a 'Watchmen 2' In The Works?

Not anytime soon, so don't freak out. But freak out is what the fanboys did earlier today when it was announced that DC Comics was determined to begin shelling out sequels and spin-offs for their most successful graphic novel of all time. Naturally, folks immediately thought that meant there'd be a sequel to the movie as well, but Deadline Hollywood tells us (via an inside source) that "there is no truth to anything related to a movie sequel. Not a chance by a longshot."
'Watchmen 2?'

Before any film sequel hits, they first have to create successful sequels on the page. And if those sell like hotcakes, they may actually entertain another film – but seeing as the first one underperformed, it's not in Warner Bros. best interests to make another one.

Would you want a Watchmen sequel?

Captain America to be Cast Soon

Who will Marvel sign to play Captain America? That's the big question now as that much-anticipated Avengers movie draws closer and closer. Will it be Will Smith? Matthew McConaughey? Or someone with less star power? According to an interview with SciFi Wire, Captain America director Joe Johnston said that they're just about ready to pick their lead actor. He notes, "We have a very short list, but we're still juggling actors here. I'd say within the next couple of weeks we'll have ourselves a Captain America, I hope."

Who are the actors they're juggling? Bet you wish you knew. Here's where we hang tight and spit out the names of all the different men we'd like to see take on the role. (Why do I feel like Channing Tatum will end up being Captain America?)

'Iron Man 2' is a Prequel to The Incredible Hulk?

There's been some chatter online over the past 24 hours after Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau answered a fan's question on Twitter regarding whether Iron Man 2 takes place after The Incredible Hulk or before. Favreau answered "before", which could mean a number of different things. Seeing as Robert Downey Jr. makes a cameo at the end of Hulk to recruit General Ross to join his team, that would mean the events of Iron Man 2 take place prior to that – so perhaps we'll hear about the Hulk and find out what led Tony Stark to seek out General Ross in the first place.
'Iron Man 2'

Furthermore, it would appear as if they're setting it up so that at least one part of The Avengers will have to do with them tracking down Bruce Banner (aka The Hulk), who may or may not be the villain of the film. Here's hoping they connect those dots in Iron Man 2 – what do you think?

Matthew McConaughey as Capt. America? Please Lord do not let this happen. Isn't it bad enough that this so-called actor will be polluting the screens in this Summer's big screen adaptation of "B.J. and the Bear"?!?

The best in for a Watchman movie would be a prequel to the first one. Show us these action heroes in action. I'm sure they faced some amazing villians in their earlier careers or they wouldn't be as famous as they are. Seeing action hereoes that are passionate about their jobs is what we watch action movies for. Well, that and Mail Ackerman....

Agreed. Channing Tatum is NOT of sufficient caliber to portray Captain America. He is simply a piece of eye candy to get teenage girls to go watch action movies (*ahem* G.I. Joe) and as previously seen (*ahem* G.I. Joe), Channing Tatum gives a very shallow, wooden performance.

I can't wait to see Captain America and Ironman II. I absolutely loved the first Ironman. Please DC don't torture us with another Watchmen movie. That franchise sucks. I like my heroes to be ACTUAL heroes. Plus the movie was awful.

Please Don't Make a Watchmen sequel, DC! How would that even work? It's not the same without Alan Moore writing the story. Hopefully at least Gibbons will illustrate.

Ok, I personally think the Watchmen was a well made movie and was good, not excellent, but pretty darn good. However, there are just some movies that are better off alone. Watchmen is one of them, I feel, because it was good and I just don't see how a sequel will be done with the story that the first one had. I also feel that Channing Tatum will get the role of Captain America as well, because for some reason, I feel that he looks like a Captain America.
