Did you know there was a Spider-Man musical hitting Broadway in February of 2010? Well, there is, and it’s called Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark. Directed by Julie Taymor (Across the Universe), the show will feature music and lyrics from U2’s Bono and The Edge. While the production is still searching for their Spider-Man, talks are ongoing with Evan Rachel Wood (who co-starred in Taymor’s Across the Universe) for the role of Mary Jane and, today, the New York Post says stage veteran Alan Cumming is at the top of the list to play the musical’s main villain, Green Goblin.
Unlike the films, the musical will feature a whole host of villains (yes, more than three) – including Carnage, Electro, Rhino, Swarm, Lizard, a new baddie called Swiss Miss and the aforementioned Green Goblin – who’s said to be the show’s main villain. Damn, seems like Spidey will have his hands full with this one; here’s hoping he squeezes in time for some outrageous song-and-dance routines amidst the chaos and destruction.
Will you head to New York City to see Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark when it opens?
'Toy Story 3' Cameo in Latest 'Up' Trailer
Those wizards over at Pixar are always playing tricks on us; hiding little easter eggs in all their films, and, now, even their trailers. Word has it that one of the brand new characters in Toy Story 3 was hidden in the latest trailer for Pixar’s Up (due in theaters on May 29).
One of the producers told MTV the following: "There’s a shot where a little girl is in her room and the house goes by," the producer said of a seemingly simple reaction scene near the beginning of the film, in which a young girl is surprised by the flying house soaring past her bedroom. "She’s playing with her toys. She’s playing with her little plane. She gets up, and she looks [out the window] – under her bed is one of the new stars of Toy Story 3."
We won’t ruin the surprise for you, but we’ll give you a hint: Look for something pink. Got it? Good. Now watch the trailer over here.
Video of the Week: 'Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen' Music Videos
You old school fans might remember how in the original 1986 Transformers animated movie, they used a song called "The Touch" by Stan Bush. A fan favorite (for many reasons) throughout the years, "The Touch" was also featured in the film Boogie Nights (as a cover by Mark Wahlberg) – and now Bush has recorded a new, shinier version for the latest Transformers movie, Revenge of the Fallen. There’s no word on how (or if) this song will fit into the film itself, but you can check out the music video for it right over here.
Additionally, Linkin Park have returned to score the Transformers sequel, as well as perform a new song called "New Divide", which you can sample in this making-of, behind-the-scenes featurette. Enjoy.
Transformers 2, Toy Story 3, Spider-Man
I just love Matt Damon and while I understand that he is getting older, you cannot leave us hanging without at least ending the "Bourne" story, it at least has to end somewhere. Where you left off and even after the second movie, I get the impression that Bourne and Nickie have some sort of past. You guys have got to bring them together for a last movie.
Matt Damon, it just would not be the same movie without YOU. You are what made those movies. To me it's like having a Terminator without Arnold. It just dosn't work. In my never to be humble opinion anyway. How about a stunt double. Please, just one more!!!
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
