I don't think so. I saw it in theatres when it came out the first go round - LOVED IT!!! Then it came 'round again at the IMAX theatre after it had become one of my absolute faves and I actually broke out in tears six times during the show because it was so intense. But having to rush out to the theatres again for a quick two week gig just to watch it in 3D - does seem like they are just grasping for more dollars. Kind of disappointing.

I absolutely cannot wait to see The Lion King in 3D. I do not mind paying the extra ticket price for a movie that means as much to me as this movie does. Of course I wish I didn't have to. :) This movie is very personal for myself and my family. I do see the difference in 3D versus regular and am very excited that THe Lion King is finally coming out in 3D. The vistas and the stampede in this fashion will be amazing!! I will be at the first showing and even having seen it hundreds of times will still cry. One of the best movies ever made. Not just animated.... but up there with Casablanca, Gone With the Wind and Citizen Kane.

I've never been able to actually "see" 3D...it just looks like blurry versions of the 2D. And it's not just me, several of my friends can't tell much of a difference either. (My bf was so excited about the 3DS, we saw it at a Wal-Mart for a trial, and even with the 3D on, all we saw was 2 planes instead of one plane!) I'm starting to think that lately adding the words "3D" is just a way to up the ticket price! But other than that, I'd still go watch this movie in theaters! I was only 4 when it came out and never got to see it on the big screen! So, 3D or not, I'd go to see it just for that! (And cry my eyes out in public because of it!) XD

With the Nintendo 3DS, looking at it from certain angles will affect how the 3D effects look. As with movies, the 3D effects depends on if they were shot in 3D, or if they were shot in 2D, and the company then tried to "upscale" it to 3D. If they tried to "upscale" it, that will obviously produce a lower-quality 3D effect than if it was shot in 3D. An example.....Avatar was shot in 3D, and most people will agree that it's 3D effects were pretty good. But Clash of the Titans, which came out three months later (I think), was shot in 2D and upscaled to 3D. The 3D effects in CotT were between "terrible" and "non-existent."
Well, with the 3DS my bf and I thought of the angle thing and tried looking at the screen every which way! We still only saw two planes instead of one that touched wings a bit in the middle...But thanks for the info on 3D movies! But it makes me wonder about the 3D in this movie, since it wasn't originally in 3D...but I guess I'll go and see for myself when it comes out!

I think I would go see it. There are some kids who didn't see it the first time around. And who didn't love the movie the first time around???
