The kind folks over at Well Go USA/Variance Films have given us the exclusive poster premiere for 1911, opening in theaters on October 7th. The film stars and is co-directed by Jackie Chan and marks his 100th film. It's a historical drama based on the founding of the Republic of China when nationalist forces led by Sun Yat-sen overthrew the Qing Dynasty in 1911.
What do you think? Will you go see it when it comes out? Check here for complete 1911 photos, videos, showtimes and tickets.

Now, I really have the opportunity to judge whether or not Jackie Chan's acting skills comes to par with his martial arts prowess. I don't mean to criticize his acting; I absolutely love this guy's style of fighting! It's just that the movie description gives note to a historical film, and doesn't mention any martial arts fighting. So, I'm curious as to how Jackie will perform in a film that's completely outside of his element and norm. Although I don't think this film will score high in the box office, I do have a considerable amount of anticipation for it.

It will be interesting to see how our new rulers think about the world. I guess this will give you an idea how our country will be in the future.

This looks like a more serious Jackie Chan outing. I am a big fan of Jackie, but I have been more disappointed than not with his films (that made it to US audiences at least) over the last say 12 years. The exception being Rush Hour 1 & 2 and The Karate Kid. I think this is largely because there are nuances between his native Asian and American senses of humor. His films made in Asia doesn't translate well when shown in the US. . I will surely check this one out and hope its one of his exceptions to his track record of most so so films over the last dozen years or so.

I will definitely see this. I loves his humor and his martial arts....but this will be very exciting to see in all of his maturity.

Absolutely! I think Jackie Chan is just coming into his own regarding dramatic roles. Will be taking my oldest to see this and discussing the history behind the movie. We are all Jackie Chan fans and will continue to be. Now...when, when and where can we see it????

Seeing as there are only 2 short Japanese Trailers of this that were revealed at a Japanese Film festival and this one Poster it isn't a surprise you haven't heard of it. I really hope you were joking when you said that though because that would look to good for you if you weren't.
Being one of the biggest Jackie Chan fans ever I cannot wait for this! I hate the fact I have only heard of it now. Time to do some research. I'm glad summer is over and real movies can come out finally!
I agree. We need movies with depth! Something we can hunker down with

I didn't even know that was Jackie Chan. Lol, he looks so strange. But I guess I'm not used to seeing him like that (including the beard..)

"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
"Squirrel!"
