Emma Stone to Star in Cameron Crowe's Next Rom-Com, 'Deep Tiki'

Cameron Crowe's filmography reads like a list of quirky romantic comedies mixed with nostalgic '70s and '80s classic rock ballads. So it comes as no surprise that the director's next film, Deep Tiki, will venture into the same territory and it looks like he's found his lead actress.

Rising star Emma Stone has signed on to star in the film. The film was originally conceived as a Ben Stiller/Reese Witherspoon film, but the production kept getting delayed due to scheduling issues. Crowe went on to make We Bought A Zoo, starring Matt Damon and Scarlett Johansson last year. Following rewrites by Crowe, Sony picked up a then "untitled script" yesterday before it was revealed by Variety to indeed by Deep Tiki.

Set in Hawaii, the familiar storyline finds "a man undertaking a spiritual journey to get his life together and starts to discover himself and the relationships he left behind." The film is "set against the backdrop of mythical island lore and Cold War-esque diplomacy."

No release date has been set for Deep Tiki and considering it has just come out of the studio vault, there's no telling when filming will begin.

Casting Stone though, is a solid first step. Do you agree and who do you think should play the male lead?

Looks like a good movie. I like Cameron Crowe's work in Almost Famous and Say Anything. Let's see what he has got his sleeve. By the way Emma Stone should get an MTV movie award nomination next summer for Spider man. She was so good

She was excellent in the new action MARVEL "The Amazing Spiderman" (as well as The HELP movie) and surely will do an solid lead Role in Deep Tiki. Sounds like an ocean/beach movie or something.
