From Stacie Hougland: Don't expect to see Robert Downey Jr. in the next Batman movie, if his backhanded compliment to The Dark Knight in an interview on moviehole.net is any indication.
Said the always-outspoken Iron Man and Tropic Thunder star: "It's like a Ferrari engine of storytelling and script writing and I'm like, 'That's not my idea of what I want to see in a movie.' I loved The Prestige [also starring Christian Bale and Michael Caine] but didn't understand The Dark Knight. Didn't get it, still can't tell you what happened in the movie, what happened to the character and in the end they need him to be a bad guy. I'm like, 'I get it. This is so high brow and so f--king smart, I clearly need a college education to understand this movie.' You know what? F--k DC comics. That's all I have to say and that's where I'm really coming from."
Whaddya think: Did Downey Jr. make a mistake speaking his mind? Or is it a nice change of pace to hear an actor's real opinion?
Read the complete interview.
I disagree with Downey, I don't know how he interpreted the movie, but I have not met anyone with a negative review of the movie. He was definiately on something.
Many Marvel and DC comics fans tend to pick sides, like Coke and Pepsi. Hes Iron Man digging at the Bat. The DC/Marvel friendly competition goes to the next level. its just trash talk.
whoa - is Downey smoking again? what was he thinking?
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
