Looking to wrap the much talked-about writer around a Juno-esque series that could potentially spin off into several different films, Universal has signed Diablo Cody (Juno, Jennifer's Body) to add her quirky, hipster-ish signature to a big-screen adaptation of Sweet Valley High, which, in its 20-plus years, has shoveled out more than 150 related books.
Originally created by Francine Pascal back in 1983, at its core Sweet Valley High follows the trials and tribulations of two teenage twin sisters, Jessica and Elizabeth Wakefield, who live in the fictional town of Sweet Valley, California. While Elizabeth is a bit of a book nerd who likes reading, writing and wants to eventually become a journalist, her sister Jessica is your standard issue cheerleader who loves fashion and, of course, boys. It's the differences between the two that serve as the basis for a lot of the stories within the books, as Jessica is always getting into trouble forcing Elizabeth to come in and bail her out. Picture a Diablo Cody spin on the whole thing and you've got yourself the next teen sensation!
Obviously there are a number of teen actors to pull from for a movie like this, and I'd expect a Twilight alum and perhaps even Jennifer Body's own Amanda Seyfried to be among those who eventually join the cast. If you got to choose two actresses to play the twin sisters, who would it be?
