While making the press rounds for Silver Linings Playbook, Robert De Niro confirmed that he will reunite with Al Pacino in Martin Scorsese's I Heard You Paint Houses (formerly known as The Irishman).
Granted Scorsese's plate is rather full and there's no telling when he'll actually get around making Houses, but it got us thinking of other movie acting duos that we'd like to see reunite on the big screen.
Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan
If you're talking '90s rom-com duos, Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan have to be at the top of the list. From Joe Versus the Volcano, Sleepless in Seattle and You've Got Mail, movie audiences couldn't get enough of the acting pair. Then Hanks went dramatic – Cast Away, Road to Perdition, The Terminal, The Da Vinci Code and so forth while Ryan's career slowly waned with clunkers like Proof of Life, Kate & Leopold and Against the Ropes. Her last listed credit was from three years ago when she guest starred on the HBO comedy Curb Your Enthusiasm. If Billy Crystal can return to live-action comedy after a ten year hiatus with next month's The Guilt Trip, there's certainly room for another Hanks-Ryan rom-com.
Ed Norton and Brad Pitt
Yeah, OK, they're actually the same person. But these Fight Club co-stars exuded such stellar chemistry that a second movie seems like common sense. Norton even went as far as to say in an interview last year, "We've talked about it but being in something together is a complicated thing to put together." Here's hoping they work out these complications.
Mike Myers and Dana Carvey
Wayne and Garth together again? Party on, dudes! While those other best buds from San Dimas, Bill and Ted, are gradually working on a third film, how about a third Wayne's World flick? Sure Myers and Carvey have had their share of behind-the-scenes drama, but nearly 20 years has passed since the hard rockin' dudes from Aurora, Colorado graced the big screen. Neither has done much in the world of live-action comedy in recent years, so they should let bygones be bygones and and show us where Wayne and Garth are up to after nearly two decades.
Mel Gibson and Danny Glover
Though this duo will forever be linked with the four Lethal Weapon movies, it sure would be fun to see them one the big screen together again. It seems unlikely though. While Gibson only has Machete Kills upcoming, Glover is working more than ever, with nine movies due out next year. Maybe Murtaugh could throw Riggs a bone and help resurrect a fallen action star's career.
Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker
There's been a lot of buzz over the past few months of Rush Hour 4 quickly coming together. Tucker has said that he met with Chan and producers about the storyline. Frankly, it's kind of surprising it has taken this long for a fourth film to materialize, given the enormous crossover appeal and success of the franchise. While Tucker has been dealing with tax evasion issues, Chan has steadily released a number of films over the past five years to varying degrees of success. It's about time Carter and Lee reunited and took down some bad guys again.
Ben Affleck and Matt Damon
If we're talking about reuniting acting duos, then Affleck and Damon have to be in the conversation. Recently, the duo were spotted at a business meeting for a biopic about notorious New England gangster James "Whitey" Bulger. Damon would play Bulger while Affleck's brother, Casey would play the mobster's brother, Billy. Meanwhile, Ben would direct, but we're pretty sure that he would appear somewhere in the film. Of all the acting duos mentioned, this one seems the most likely to happen.
There are plenty of others we'd like to see pair up again: Woody Harrelson and Wesley Snipes, Anthony Hopkins and Jodie Foster, Tom Cruise and Renee Zellweger, Morgan Freeman and Tim Robbins. Maybe you'd like to see those road-tripping gal pals Susan Sarandon and Geena Davis team up again? Tell us below.

"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
