According to Latino Review, David Goyer (co-writer on the first two Christopher Nolan-directed Batman films) has been hired to write the next Superman movie, titled Man of Steel. Additionally, Goyer is also lending a hand on the script for the next Batman movie, though he's not fully writing it. Not the case with Man of Steel, which LR says will be based on a idea from Goyer that takes the Superman mythology back to its roots, but is not an origin story and expects that the audience already knows how Superman came to be (which – and I think I speak for all Superman fans – is such a relief).
LR says the script involves Lex Luthor and the villain Brainiac, as well as Lois Lane, that it's "modern…believable… and fun," that Brandon Routh will not star and Bryan Singer probably won't direct. Also the story will involve The Daily Planet struggling because of the Internet. Knowing Goyer is writing this and working on Batman means (most likely) that Warner Bros. is going to try to connect the two franchises in some way, perhaps to set it up for an eventual Justice League movie that would take place after the next Batman film comes out.
That seems the most logical, especially since DC and Warners will want to try to match or best the hype Marvel is creating around their superhero films. If they can find a way to link Batman and Superman, then we could have the makings of some exciting upcoming movies.
