It was somewhat of a throwaway piece of information that was sort of overlooked by many, but during the Cowboys & Aliens panel at Comic Con, Jon Favreau announced that because he wants to shoot the film like a true old-school Western, it just doesn’t make sense to convert or shoot the film in 3D. Surprisingly this got a huge response from the crowd, with thousands of folks cheering the decision to not go 3D with what is essentially one of next summer’s biggest blockbusters.

I get too involved in the storyline to enjoyt the 3D. The upcharge is not worth it and I hate that I am forced to watch it in 3D with our limited local theaters.
i'd like more of 3D done right and less 3D done wrong. More 3D like Avatar, How to Train Your Dragon, and My Bloody Valentine, less of Alcie in Wonderland, The Last Airbender, and Clash of the Titans.
I agree that it has grown tiresome to see at the end of every movie trailer the words "in 3D." NOt every movie needs to be in 3D but that is our own fault. As the consumers, we go nuts at the box office. We shell out millions to see 3D movies and yet we claim to be tired of it. 3D is never going to stop unless the general public stops their support. I, for one, have no problem with 3D. I enjoy the experience.
Yes! No more 3D!
There are some movies that are meant to be 3D and movies that are not Hollywood and it's producers needs to know this because not every single movie needs to be in 3D and in the words of stan lee, "nuff said"
I personaly LOVE 3D! I love the clearity of 3D digital projectors and how it makes you feel more inside the movie. The only thing I dont like is having a movie converted to 3D. I hate how converted 3D movies look. Theyre making the masses believe that they are genuine 3D shot movies and forming a bad name for real 3D movies in general. If they stop converting I feel 3D will stick around. I cant wait for TRON in real D))
I quess it's room for all Movie formats 2D, 3D, etc.,. just as long as it comes in view with "clearity" and is "quality" and above all has a great storyline Script base then what ever the format is accepted. I personally like and perfer 2D Movies formats "more" for to me it's easier on the eyes and I don't have to fuss around with those 3D glasses. Just my opinion
This movie should be supported insanely. I'm so sick of 3D I could scream. Also, I'm sorely disgusted by the movie industry who keeps using this gimmick to con the retarded masses who shell out $15 dollars at the movie theater. Taking advantage of the mentally ill like that is just unethical.
When I saw Avatar in IMAX 3D, the first few minutes were really cool, but once I started focusing on the story versus the 3D, I simply forgot it was in 3D. In other words, it became mundane and unnecessary. After a while the IMAX 3D glasses became tiresome. What really makes a difference with a movie for me is IMAX. The large, clear projection and clear sound makes it an experience rather than just a movie. After that, the 3D is just an after thought. I would be interested in seeing more movies in IMAX rather than in 3D.
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
