While folks were grilling Johnny Depp on all things Pirates of the Caribbean, they were also targeting Depp's Public Enemies co-star Christian Bale – who, aside from also starring in this summer's Terminator Salvation – is one of the key ingredients in the future of two giant franchises.
When asked for a status report on the next Batman film, Bale kept pretty quiet (if a bit skeptical), saying, "I really cannot tell you if there will ever be another 'Batman' movie right now. Chris [Nolan] has obviously done an incredible job with it. He's devoted to the movie that he's on right now. I'm none the wiser about whether we'll ever be revisiting Gotham or not." Seeing as The Dark Knight is currently the second highest grossing film of all time, I'd say chances are pretty great that we'll get another Batman film within the next couple of years. Will Bale be involved? Probably. But give it a little more time to simmer and develop.
Similarly, Bale admitted that he hasn't had one conversation about another Terminator movie, even though he's signed on to three films should another one get made. Since most folks blame Bale for hurting Terminator Salvation with his own script rewrites, I'm sure fans don't really care whether the actor returns to that franchise or not.
Right now, though, Bale is getting into shape for the movie Fighter opposite Mark Wahlberg. Describing that film, he tells Collider that it's "a true story of two incredibly gifted boxers who were half-brothers. The one, Dicky Eklund, who fought Sugar Ray Leonard at a very young age, when he was twenty one, was an incredible natural talent. He lived a very hard life. Then he came to train his brother, Irish Mickey Ward, to the world title."
So what do you think Fandango Fanatics: Would you rather watch Bale in Batman or Terminator?
Terminator 3 was pathetic. The only thing that it did was to introduce John Connor's wife. I did actually like T4. Totally different, gritty. Christian Bale is awesome as John Connor. Too bad Sam Worthington won't be in the next two movies.... If they ever even happen.
I refuse to choose :-) He was great in both movies and was the best choice for future John Conner.
Batman, but without the voice. Although I thought he was great in Terminator.
I love Batman and Bale is great as a Batman. I think he created the best Batman to date in Dark Night.
Really hope there is another one, and another one, and...
Batman. The Terminator franchise was overdone when they made the third. I don't know why they even bothered with four.
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
