We're less than 24 hours away from much-anticipated debut of The Twilight Saga: New Moon in theaters. But before you head out to line up and fight the crowds, perhaps you should check in to see what the critics thought of the latest installment in the Twilight series. Of course, if you're a true Twi-hard, you're watching this film regardless, but those of you on the fence may want to take a look at this …
I was extremely disappointed in this movie...There was so many things wroong but most of all some of the side characters such as Demetri and Feliz according to page 463 in the New Moon Book are black characters but in the movie they weren't and Edward was depicted as this weak person. I have enjoyed the Twilight Series books but this movie was a flop..a let down...and I will not go see it again...The first Twilight movie I went to see it 5 times bc it was awesome...I can't say that this time...BBBOOOO for Chris Weitz
I did not like this director's "vision". Edward came off as a simpering weakling - it was so annoying - I felt like I did by the third installment of The Lord of the Rings when I wanted to tear my hair out at how whimpy Frodo was depicted. Also, the Cullin's eyes were such a freaky gold that I wondered if they were different actors - especially Alice. The best scenes were the ones where Jacob and his buddies morphed in to wolves. My daughter loved it (she's 11), but I thought is it was actually sort of boring - this from someone who's read the series three times, and has seen Twilight numberous times and enjoyed every viewing!
I almost wish that I'd waited for the rental! Please bring back the first director for the next one!!!!!!
i'm with you gwent2014. **** movie. absolutely loved the first - and new moon completely ruined it for me. so boring, laborious, and laughable. i was sooo devastated when i came out of the movie - chris weitz took away the soul that catherine hardwicke had done such a great job to manifest. this movie is not about just action etc, it is about the connection between the characters and all that teenage angst! well, it should be about that.. it certainly wasn't. omg. terrible!! 2 hours of my life i will never get back - and 2hours that felt like 4 it was sooo slow...
I read all the books and loved them. I just saw New Moon and I do not think Summit is doing a good job with the adaptations. The writer and the director need to give the other characters more depth and lines. Rosalee had one line in the whole movie. I know that the main plot is about Edward , Bella, and Jacob, but the characters help the books flow. Edward was a bit too sensitive and suffering in the movie. Jacob was more of a real guy. Bella and Edward were not happy to see each other in Italy like people would be who thought they had lost ,or were going to lose ,their true loves. I hope the next movie is better. I was dissapointed.
I went to the midnight showing and the 3pm showing today so I could judge it on a clear mind. The actors were great and so was the script, but the director killed the movie by the way he chose to film it. Twilight was filmed so much better, cut and edited to be the better film. Maybe this director should take more college film courses before he kills another great novel. Please go back to the original format of Twilight’s filming for Eclipse before you make it choppy and bit ridden like new moon. Please I'm begging you as a true fan. Let the actors carry the film and not try to make a statement of who you are through the way you film it. A good novel carries its self.
i went to the midnight showing and enjoyed it and must admit i have switched to team jacob- if you are a die hard twi-light fan you will love the movie
Not. Enough. Robert. Pattinson. Yeah, yeah I know...following the book...which I despised due to serious lack of Edward for which I blame Mrs. Meyer. *She* fell in love with a secondary character, brought him to prominence and diluted the raison d'etre of the books, i.e. Bella and Edward's epic romance which turned out to be not so epic. Technically, the film itself looked much better than "Twilight". Whereas the first movie was almost dream-like in nature, this one was very realistic. Look, if you like Jacob, you are gonna love it with all your heart. If you're like me, you're going to wish Mrs. Meyer had played the love triangle more like Darcy-Elizabeth-Wickham rather than what made it into the book. Would have been less creepy, too.
i have read the books and if you have too, you will absolutely LOVE this movie!!! it was exactly as i had seen it in my head when i was reading it initially, the cast is perfect, the director was perfect, everything just flowed. if you are hoping for the perfect adaptation, you will not be disappointed. i had goosebumps the whole time
The movie was amazing! Chriz Weitz deserves a standing ovation from Twi-Hards world wide! The small little details Catherine missed like the fact to use the words I LOVE YOU or the contacts the vampires use. In this movie you can't notice they are contacts you do not see the edges of them, Bella stopping to catch her breath and compose herself after kissing Edward. Those small little details make a huge difference to the people that read the books! All i can say is i loved the movie, I felt Bella's gut retching pain, I fell in love with Jacob and ever more so when he became a wolf and as a wolf he shows emotion and thought! AMAZING!!!! And what can we say about Edward, he oozed love, pain and anguish out of the screen! VERY WELL DONE
I loved all the books but I was slightly disappointed in the movie. I thought it was a little cheesy and over the top at times. I lliked Twilight better for sure. Either way, I am still a fan and I will see the next two movies!!!!!
It's really bothering me that this movie is getting such crap reviews. I was speechless when I came out of the movie last night. I thought it was SPOT ON for the book. I don't have a single complaint about it except the ending and how awkward and abrupt it was. I PULLED APART the Twilight movie the first time I saw it, siting a 1000 errors, but seriously, New Moon is amazing. The effects, how closely they followed the book, and even KStews acting was better (THANK GOD). I think the only thing I can say is that it really was made for the fans, b/c if you didn't read the book, theres some stuff you won't pick up on. Do I think it'll make people want to go read it? Absolutely. Well done Chris Weitz! I'll be seeing it again, many times.
The movie was spot on to the book. Thank you Chris and Cast for making New Moon true to the book and to the characters. Can't wait to go see it again and again.
If I listened to all the negative's the majority of critics give movie reveiws, I would never leave my house to see a movie. All they are is a paid opinion. Especially with the Twilight Saga, unless they have read the books, they will not understand the mood of the characters or story line for that matter, come on do your homework before you start flapping your negativity!. My God Roger Ebert hated the movie "Tombstone" which was a great western, he got so much flack from the bad review that he went back and watched it again and gave it great reveiws. Just makes you wonder if a movie critic actually sits there and lets the story line absorb them or do they sit there and flip their phones open counting down the time to when it's over.
I really wish critics would read up on films before giving their uneducated opinions. Seriously, if they would have read the books that these movies are based on they would know that Edward is not a major part of this particular point in time. Bella is trying to adapt to a life without Edward. Edward has left Bella in the hopes of no longer putting her in danger. I'm sure that most people have had to let go of someone or something in their lives at some point. It's all about going on with life and surviving the loss. A good quote "What doesn't kill you only makes you stronger". This set of movies will not be popular with everybody. Most movies aren't, so take all critics with a grain of salt and make the decision about the film yourself.
I would still watch it..Their opinions do count however..one thing they forgot to consider before writing is that..it is an adaptation not an actual representation. The book is about hearbreak and the desperate attempt to hold on to something you love. Those who once fell inlove or experienced being inlove and at one point or another lost it, can somehow relate to it. If the movie potrayed even a fraction of how the book is, then it did its purpose. To those who didnt read the book, they may not see the point of relevancy...It isnt an action book, if you want action watch GI Joe! Perhaps doing so will satisfy your expections...
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
