Box Office: Who Will Win the Weekend (11/6-11/8)

Box Office: Who Will Win the Weekend (11/6-11/8)

After taking a week off to let Michael Jackson's concert doc This Is It do its thing, we're back now with four brand spanking new movies ready to climb over one another for a chance to claim the weekend's top spot at the box office. Who will it be? Before we let you decide, here's who's joining the competition this week…

What's the Scoop: James Marsden and Cameron Diaz star in this retro-style thriller about a couple who receive a mysterious box from an even more mysterious stranger along with a set of enticing-yet-deadly instructions.
Why It Might Win the Weekend: Donnie Darko director Richard Kelly is behind this film (his most commercial to date), so expect his large fan base to populate theaters along with those curious enough to find out what exactly is inside that box.

What's the Scoop: The latest spin on this classic Dickens tale finds Jim Carrey voicing a number of roles in this motion-capture animated 3D flick from director Robert Zemeckis (The Polar Express) that's sure to bring out some of the holiday spirit in all of us.
Why It Might Win the Weekend: It's an animated Disney Christmas movie in 3D starring Jim Carrey. Enough said.

What's the Scoop: Based on actual case studies, this freaky little flick follows a reporter who's investigating possible alien abductions in an Alaskan town.
Why It Might Win the Weekend: Folks still looking for some Paranormal Activity-esque scares will find plenty of them in this film, which stars Resident Evil alum Milla Jovovich.

What's the Scoop: George Clooney, Ewan McGregor and Kevin Spacey star in this film about a reporter who stumbles across a story about a secret military unit who use paranormal powers in their missions.
Why It Might Win the Weekend: Who wouldn't want to watch George Clooney stare at goats for two hours? I mean, c'mon!

My Prediction: Though Michael Jackson will continue to dance up the box office charts for a second week in a row, my money is on Disney's A Christmas Carol to take the weekend with ease.

But what do you think? Sound off in our poll below…
