Will The Next 'Twilight' Director Please Stand Up?

Will The Next 'Twilight' Director Please Stand Up?

Oh Twilight … you’re like the sweet cherry on top of a perfect cake, or an ex-girlfriend who refuses to stop calling – somewhere in between the two. While the sequel New Moon skips into production with a bigger budget, a larger cast and a lot more blog posts, all anyone can talk about right now is who the director of the third Twilight flick, Eclipse, will be. (Hint: It’s not Steven Spielberg. Drats!)

After being booted from the series despite the first film’s monster box office take, Catherine Hardwicke remains out of the picture. Chris Weitz, who was chosen to direct New Moon from a long list of people desperate for a fantasy gig that wouldn’t self-destruct (ahem, Golden Compass), will not be sticking around for a second helping – however, according to a few Twilight fan sites, things may remain a family affair.

Twilighters.org (not sure when they became The Hollywood Reporter, but we’ll go with it) tells us that Chris’ brother (and business partner) Paul will step in to helm the third film. This comes after Drew Barrymore publicly announced that she was one of the names circulating the Eclipse director’s chair as well. So who landed the job? We don’t know. But we’d love to know who you would hire.

I agree with amy32.. also.. want to say that i have nothing against Drew Barrymore.. i like her a lot.. and i'm sure she can be a good director.. but Twilight with Hardwicke all ready has a tone.. and is just impossible to carry on the same vision of the movie, simply because they are 2 different people.. but hey i hope she'll at least be offered the Eclipse movie.. i know she had the opportunity for Full Moon, but not enough time.. so please give her what she needs to work with, and also i ask of Stephanie Meyer.. to ask for her too..

It looks like HP syndrome all over again! Why wont Chris "come back for seconds?" He's not a fan of making huge sums of money? I guess there isn't much any of us fans can do about these decisions....So I'll just cross my fingers.

I agree with fising4life and I don't agree with Cullen-girl or AMY. Catherine did an alright job with the budget she had, but she could've chosen a different Bella. That was the biggest mistake she made and its ruined the movies. I'm not hating, but don't turn a blind eye. For Catherine to say that K. Stewart is a great actress is just ridiculous! And it doesn't look like Chris Weitz did a much better job. He should have made Kristen Stewart and other actors get some lessons. They're bringing the essence of the books - to the screen - down. I think Chris Columbus, Alfonso Cuarón, David Yates or perhaps Steven Spielberg should be considered to direct the rest of the films. With the exception of Steven, the other directors did a great job directing the Harry Potter films and could bring so much to the Twilight series with fantasy movies under their belt. I think they could do wonders and make the franchise huge! I don't know why Mrs. Meyers isn't speaking up. This is her baby! I would totally speak up and protect my books. This is going to be on film FOREVER!
