First there was The Da Vinci Code, then next month we get Angels & Demons – and now Variety tells us that Columbia Pictures is interested in picking up the film rights to author Dan Brown’s latest Robert Langdon adventure, The Lost Symbol. The book, which was supposed to arrive in 2006 and delayed until this September 15, is the third to feature the Robert Langdon character, played by Tom Hanks in both films.
Not much is known about The Lost Symbol as of yet, except that it takes place in Washington, D.C., and somehow involves the Freemasons and the Kryptos sculpture at the CIA. So, yeah, secret cults, strange symbols – the usual stuff. Assuming Angels & Demons rakes in Da Vinci Code money at the box office (and it should, especially since trailers tease a freakishly wicked good time at the movies) there’s a good chance Ron Howard and Tom Hanks will return to breathe life into Brown’s new book.
What do you Robert Langdon/Dan Brown fans think about this one? Are they simply forcing Brown to churn out another Langdon-related book so they can make a new movie? Or, perhaps this fellow has at least one more adventure left in him? You decide …
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
