'Back to the Future' to Hit US Theaters Again Ahead of Blu-ray Release

When the new Back to the Future Blu-ray collection was first announced, fans of the franchise were completely stoked upon hearing the original film would be re-released in theaters as part of the celebration. Then those smiles turned to frowns when everyone learned that the film would be re-released in the UK, and not in the US. That looks to be changing, though, thanks to AMC Theaters, who have announced that they'll be re-releasing Back to the Future stateside.

"Back to the Future"

AMC has announced that, in honor of the 25th anniversary of Back to the Future, they'll be re-releasing a digitally remastered version of the original film on 158 screens across 40 cities. The screenings will take place on Saturday October 23rd at 12:30pm, as well as Monday October 25th at 7pm. Fans of the time-traveling masterpiece will remember that, in the film, Marty actually traveled back in time on October 25th, so there's more than one anniversary we're celebrating.

In addition to the screening (which should be completely awesome), AMC will be handing out a full-sized poster commemorating the 25th anniversary limited release to all those who attend, and each theater will also be hosting special giveaways prior to the screenings.  Head over to AMC's website for more details, and make sure you purchase those tickets through Fandango in order to guarantee a spot. Spaces will fill up quickly with only two screenings.

Sounds like a blast … from the past! Will you be attending?

I'll probably just watch my DVDs and upgrade to the Blu-Ray. Interesting side note, I watched the original release at the old AMC Theaters at Puente Hills Mall, the actual filming location for Twin Pines/Lone Pine Mall that the DeLorean first hit 88 MPH to go back in time.

OMG YES!!! This is one of the best movie overall that I've ever seen. Great Stories, Great Acting, Great Directing. A fan of this movie would be a nutcase to miss this.
