With Avatar breaking all kinds of records in terms of 3D tickets sold, naturally other studios are looking at their future movie slates and trying to determine which films can either be shot in 3D or converted. By this time next year, it may already be standard knowledge that any upcoming blockbuster-ish film will also come in 3D, but for now – while the technology is still somewhat new-ish – we'll be hearing random rumors in terms of which soon-to-be-released films will arrive in the format.
Clash of the Titans, Ghostbusters 3
I don't like the 3D movies. The glasses are a pain to wear and my daughter kept smearing butter from her popcorn on them whenever she adjusted them. I saw Avatar in 3D-IMAX and I can't say it made it any better, and that was the movie I decided to stop paying the extra money for the 3D. I rather have HD and not be distracted by the glasses or the fuzzy outlines on the screen.
I grew up in a time when 3D movies were only made if they had things coming out at you from the movie screen. They all had very bad storys, but they had rocks, and sticks being poked at you through out the movie. I guess they thought that would make the movie better. I do like the way they are now doing the movies in 3D. They don't have things coming out at you, but some things just look amazing in 3D. I thing this is a good idea for some movies, but they might take it too far. Not every movie needs to be in 3D. Movies like Teen Movie, and other T&A films should not be in 3D, but some kids might enjoy seeing brest coming out at them in 3D.
$10 (or more for the price of the ticket) and then another $3 (or more) to 'rent' 3D glasses at the theatre. 3D is just another way for the studios to rape us of our hard-earned money. I'll always choose a 2D movie over a 3D movie.
I think The Last Airbender should be converted into 3-D! Does anyone else think so?
I love 3D! In fact I wish someone would make a 3D zombie movie!
"Avatar" was the first new 3D film I've seen. Frankly, I found the 3D effect to be very distracting. This may be because I wear glasses, and it is hard to adjust the 3D glasses over my regular glasses to get the proper 3D effect. Half the time, I had to take off the 3D glasses when my eyes started to get tired from watching the movie. Of course, the film looked blurry without the 3D glasses, so after a while I would have to put the 3D glasses back on. Sometimes I would just close my eyes to give them a rest, and just listen to the movie. Needless to say, all that adjusting/putting on/taking off/closing eyes effort took away from my movie-going experience.
I think for my opion, Studios will have to pick which can be a 3D version of the film. For Avatar, I feel 3 D was awesome. So the Studios will have to see how the movies would look like making a test movie of the ones they want, and have a closed test audience that puts recommendations of what worked and what they should scrap and do over again.
Everything should be shot in IMAX 3-D...period...and one day it will be. There's only a couple IMAX theaters in the region so prices stay up. Regular movies haven't changed basically since the 1940s. It's time to upgrade. Get audiences back by thrilling them the way they did back in the day. The IMAX 3-D movies nearly sell out every day for every showing. More movies, more theaters, lower price.
we need to make 3d the new stander! 3d rules! the new 3d teck that James Carmon invented is unbelievable to see epically in i-max 3d.
I think that by converting traditional 2D movies to 3D users will become very disappointed very quickly which means they will be basically shooting themselves in the foot. If a movie is going to be in 3D it needs to be shot in 3D not upconverted.
Look at the difference between a true Blue-Ray DVD and a normal DVD that has been upconverted to 1080P they are completely different.
3-D is where the $$$ is...
3D is a gimmick and the fact that Avatar broke all kind of record is just...either way it just depend on what kind of movie it is...i dont know how well Clash of The Titans would look in 3D as well as Spider-Man,which if im hearing right, is what made Raimi leave Spidey 4 and the decision of Sony to 'reboot'. there are some movies that work and some work and Avatar is no exception..in lamer term i tend to agree with movieman9278
I do not like 3D at all. It makes me dizzy and is a pain for people with glasses to wear the 3D glasses over their glasses.
My small town theater is not equipped to show movies in 3D, so while 3D sounds a little interesting to me, it's not an option unless I'm willing to drive to another theater (I'm not, because most of the time, I just wait for the DVD). However, I did notice that they were showing Avatar in 3D, and if more movies start coming out in 3D, they'll probably start showing them in 3D.
I have to agree with movieman9278... Love 3D, and Avatar did an awesome job with the 3D as well as animation. But I hate seeing 3D movies when its just a gimmick like Bloody Valentine. I hate movies where 3D is only used to stick random object out at you. I hate it when they randomly have character throw stuff around, if its not Needed don't make them do it, just so you can use the 3D effect!
i dont care about 3D, id see Clash either way.
Ok, I LOVE 3D movies, but frankly I am really getting tired of seeing stuff pop out at me when I'm watching a big action packed movie. Too many movies are in 3D now and it's getting tired. What happened to the old fashioned way of watching a movie. IMAX on the other hand, I will never get tired of, so movie companies that are planning to release their movies in 3D, the company should stop and think to put it in IMAX instead.
I think there are certain movies that work well with 3D and others where you can tell they were pushing it. I think Avatar did great, because it was planned so long ago to be 3D. I'm skeptical on mass producing these 3D films, but I guess we will have to see how it works out.
I THINK 3D IS AWESOME
"Welcome to the party, pal."
"I am serious... and don't call me Shirley."
"When am I gonna learn how to punch?"
"These go to eleven."
"Benjamin, have you ever been severely beaten about the face & neck?"
"Just keep swimming, swimming, swimming."
"You're gonna need a bigger boat."
"Jessica's got cable."
