Summer Movies 2016 News

You Rate the New Releases: Tell Us What You Thought of 'The Avengers'

Holy smokes Bat - er, I mean Iron Man! We expected The Avengers to demolish the box office, but did we really expect it to open with $207 million, shattering all opening weekend box office records? Yup, the superhero team-up movie years in the making beat Twilight, Harry Potter and The Hunger Games on its way to the biggest opening of all time. Furthermore it's closing in on $700 million worldwide, and some are now saying it may even top Avatar as the highest-grossing film of all time (though we've got a little while before we start seeing those types of numbers).

Over at Rotten Tomatoes, critics are diggin' it with 93% Fresh, making it that rare summer blockbuster that both audiences and critics fall in love with. Its opening will guarantee further Avengers sequels, perhaps featuring a mix of the regulars and some new characters they introduce between now and then, but regardless of what happens next, The Avengers has proven that, if done right, a superhero movie could find incredible success.

Do you agree with the critics and the box office? Sound off below with your official rating, and let us know in the comments what you thought The Avengers got right and wrong.
