You Rate the New Releases: ‘Immortals,’ ‘Jack and Jill’ and ‘J. Edgar’

Call us somewhat surprised (but not really) to see Puss in Boots knocked out of the top spot this past weekend (shhh, don’t tell anyone I picked it to win the weekend), with 300 – er, I mean Immortals nabbing the top spot with its decent $32 million take. We also weren’t all too surprised to see Adam Sandler’s most ridiculous-looking film score second place with $25 million. Just when you think the people will finally stand up to Sandler’s stupid premises, they reward him with their love (and dollars). Puss in Boots did scrape together enough for third place ($24 million), with Tower Heist ($12.7 million) and J. Edgar ($11.2 million) rounding out the top five.

But just because you reward a film with your money doesn’t mean it’s the new release you liked the best. In fact, out of all three new releases, critics pretty much trashed all of them, awarding J. Edgar the highest bad rating at Rotten Tomatoes with 41% Rotten. Jack and Jill is at 3% Rotten, though, so hang in there Leo DiCaprio – it could be worse. You could’ve been in a dress for the entire film!

Of course you already know we’re not here to talk about the critics or throw a bunch of numbers at you and then walk away. Nope, we’re here because we want to know what you, the moviegoers, thought of these new releases, so sound off in the comments and by voting in our polls below. Let your voices be heard!
