You Rate the New Releases: ‘Horrible Bosses’ and ‘Zookeeper’

As expected, Transformers: Dark of the Moon remained ahead of the competition for a second week in a row, grabbing $47.1 million and the title of the Highest Grossing Movie of 2011 (so far). Not too far behind, though, was Horrible Bosses ($28.3 million), continuing this summer’s trend of successful R-rated comedies (Bridesmaids, The Hangover 2 and Bad Teacher have also performed extremely well). For fans of dark, raunchy comedies, this is definitely a good thing. Look for a lot more of these types of films to litter theaters over the next couple of years.

Meanwhile, talking animals and Kevin James helped Zookeeper tackle third place with $20.1 million, though that might not be the number the studio was hoping for. Perhaps it would’ve done better with James’ buddy Adam Sandler in the lead role.

Box office aside, we want to know what you thought of this weekend’s new releases. Did Horrible Bosses inspire you to murder your … um … let’s switch topics. Did Zookeeper inspire you to befriend a lion in the hopes it will help find you a girlfriend? Yeah, I’m not good at this. Sound off in our polls below and let us know what you really thought about these two flicks.
