Well, well, well – looks like lightning struck twice for Liam Neeson, as February’s most successful action star has done it again by opening number one at the box office. Seems that movie had us all fooled, because not only did I pick I Am Number Four to win it, but you folks did too – both in Friday’s poll, and you picked it as your most anticipated February movie at the beginning of the month. What happened Alex Pettyfer fans?!
You Rate the Box Office Winner: ‘Unknown’
Needless to say, Unknown took the weekend with a somewhat relaxed $25 million, while I Am Number Four finished in third place with $22 million with Gnomeo & Juliet between them at $24 million. Just Go With It ($21 million) and Big Mommas: Like Father, Like Son ($19 million) rounded out the top five.
So now that Liam Neeson once again took home top honors at the box office, beating out young guns like Pettyfer and Teresa Palmer, not to mention Martin Lawrence and Brandon T. Jackson, it’s time for us to ask you if the film deserved its top spot at the box office. Is Liam Neeson really a force to be reckoned with at the box office when it comes to action films, or were Taken and Unknown both flukes?
Sound off below and let us know what you thought of this week’s box office winner.
