You Pick the Box Office Winner: 'The Expendables 2' and 'ParaNorman' Battle Bourne's Legacy

Hear that? It's September knocking loudly on our door. Cooler weather, back to school, awards season -- all of it literally lining up outside as we speak, itching to invade our lives in just a couple of weeks. But we're not done with summer yet, and neither is Hollywood. This weekend finds a bunch of new releases for you to choose from, including action, singing and two different family-friendly options. Let's get to it ...

The Expendables 2

What's the Scoop: All of your favorite '80s action icons return to the big screen to kick lots of you know what. Led by Sylvester Stallone, the sequel finds the Expendables exacting revenge when one of their own is taken down. Cue explosions!

Why It Might Win the Weekend: Here, we'll give you a few reasons: Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jet Li, Chuck Norris, Jean-Claude Van Damme, and ... is your mouth watering with '80s nostalgia yet?

What's the Scoop: In the vein of films like Coraline or Corpse Bride comes this fun animated film about a geeky boy who can speak to the dead, and how he uses that power to help save his town from a centuries-old curse.

Why It Might Win the Weekend: Buzz is real strong on this one, plus who doesn't want to celebrate Halloween a little early this year?

What's the Scoop: This '60s-set musical drama about an all-girl group's rise to stardom features Whitney Houston's final film role prior to her untimely death, as well as former American Idol star Jordan Sparks.

Why It Might Win the Weekend: The music is great, plus we expect a lot of you will want to embrace Whitney's final performance on the big screen.

The Odd Life of Timothy Green

What's the Scoop: When a couple buries a box in their yard containing all their wishes for their unborn child, that child is then born with some unusual, mysterious quirks.

Why It Might Win the Weekend: Timothy Green got a bit of a head-start on the box office by opening earlier in the week, which may play to its advantage when it comes time to declare a box office winner.

My Prediction: Sorry Bourne Legacy, but it's impossible for those Expendables to lose a box office fight when they're bringing that much firepower to the table. Look for The Expendables 2 to take the weekend pretty easily.

My Pick of the Week: Out in limited release is a film that spurred all sorts of controversy on the festival circuit. Based on a real-life story, Compliance will scare you in more ways than one as it reveals a hard-to-believe tale about a fast-food worker who's literally tortured over the phone by a man who claims he's a police officer. Seriously, you have to see this to believe it.

Alright folks, now it's your turn. Sound off below and let us know which film you think will win the weekend.
