You Pick the Box Office Winner: Can Will and Jaden Smith Beat 'Fast & Furious 6'?

The 2013 summer movie season is showing no signs of slowing down anytime soon. Just one week after an explosive Memorial Day weekend (in which Fast & Furious 6 put up ridiculous, record-breaking numbers), here comes a Will Smith blockbuster and a really cool-looking heist flick. Which movie will rule them all come Monday? Let's take a closer look ...

After Earth

What's the Scoop: Will Smith teams up yet again with his son Jaden for a sci-fi tale about a father and son stranded on an unfamiliar (and dangerous) planet Earth 1,000 years after humans abandoned it.

Why It Might Win the Weekend: A Will Smith movie opening during the summer season is almost guaranteed to top the box office charts, but seeing as this is more about Jaden's adventure than his father's, it'll be interesting to see whether the kid can pack in audiences just like his old man.

Now You See Me

What's the Scoop: Think Ocean's Eleven but with magicians, and you'd be on the right track regarding this heist thriller, which follows a group of flashy Vegas illusionists who steal money during their performances and give it back to the audience.

Why It Might Win the Weekend: The ensemble cast is really what's selling this one. You've got Jesse Eisenberg, Isla Fisher, Woody Harrelson, Mark Ruffalo, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine -- I mean, c'mon! How could you not want to see that?

My Prediction: Yes Will Smith is returning to theaters during a season he typically dominates, but it's hard to bet against Fast & Furious 6 after its absolute domination last weekend. I expect that movie to put up enough fast & furious numbers at the box office to take down the Fresh Prince (and his kid).

My Pick of the Week: In limited release (but expanding next weekend) is one of my favorite movies of the year, The Kings of Summer. This coming-of-age tale about three boys who ditch their parents in order to build a house in the woods is at times hilarious, heartwarming and poignant -- feeling very much like a mix of Stand By Me and Superbad. Don't let summer pass you by without seeing this one. Trust.

Alright folks, now it's your turn -- tell us what you're watching this weekend and which movie you think will win the box office.
