You Pick the Box Office Winner: Can "The Rock" Smell A Box Office Win with 'Snitch'?

It's probably time we stop calling him "The Rock," right? Okay, fine, Dwayne Johnson. Happy? No, neither am I. Anyway, yes, The Rock has another new movie this weekend (one of several arriving in theaters in 2013), but it won't be alone. Joining him will be an eery-looking, otherworldly thriller and a little ceremony we like to call the Academy Awards. Let's tale a closer look ...

What's the Scoop: Based on a real-life story, Dwayne Johnson plays a father who goes undercover for the DEA in an attempt to free his son after he was sent to prison for a drug deal gone wrong.

Why It Might Win the Weekend: Because Dwayne Johnson is hot! The dude is starring in not one, not two, not three, but four films in the span of four months! That's a streak worth noting, and more than a good enough reason to figure The Rock will cook up a win at the box office this weekend.

Dark Skies

What's the Scoop: A seemingly normal family finds their home life shaken when a series of disturbing events point to a freaky, terrifying force that's out to get them.

Why It Might Win the Weekend: Creepy films tend to do well in the cold weather, plus this one comes from the producer of other freaktastic hits like Insidious and Sinister, meaning you're in good hands.

My Prediction: With the Oscars on Sunday, it really is a wild card weekend. I'm not sure the two new releases have enough stamina for previous winners still in theaters, so I'm going to go with A Good Day to Die Hard repeating in the top spot.

My Pick of the Week: The Academy Awards are this Sunday night, so if you haven't seen all the big nominees now might be a good chance to do so. Not only are several theater chains hosting marathons of all the Best Picture nominees, but several Oscar movies are still riding solo in theaters too, like Silver Linings Playbook, Lincoln, Les Miserables and more.

Alright folks, now it's your turn. What will you be watching this weekend, and which movie do you think will win the box office?
