You Pick Spider-Man's New Love Interest from These Contenders

CollinsPalmer

As we draw closer and closer to the start of production on the new Spider-Man reboot starring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker (aka Spider-Man), Sony and director Marc Webb are narrowing their search for Spidey’s love interest. Apparently, this time around (and much like Spider-Man 3), Peter Parker will be fortunate enough to have two lucky ladies in his life, and neither of them (according to sources) will be Mary Jane Watson (played by Kristen Dunst in the original franchise).

So which characters will these ladies be playing? We don’t know, though some suggest (by looking at the early Spidey comics) that they may be Gwen Stacy (played briefly by Bryce Dallas Howard in Spider-Man 3) and Betty Brant, a secretary for the Daily Bugle, where Parker works. News broke yesterday with the names of those actresses being sought for the role. We’ll tell you who they are, and you tell us which one (or two, since there are two roles to cast) you’d like to see end up in the film.

Where You Know Her From: Easy A, Zombieland, Superbad
Good Choice or Bad Choice: Good choice. Stone is smart, sophisticated, and beautiful, and she knows how to draw an audience in. She’s more than capable of handling her own film (Easy A), and she knows her way around the teen audience, which Sony is desperately trying to attract with his new reboot.
Chances of Landing a Part: 90%

Where You Know Her From: Alice in Wonderland
Good Choice or Bad Choice: Good choice. She has a young and innocent look to her, which would be perfect for Gwen Stacy, an early high school girlfriend of Peter Parkers. She’s also a feisty, underrated up-and-comer who could act circles around most of the talent currently running Hollywood.
Chances of Landing a Part: 70%

Lilly Collins
Where You Know Her From: The Blind Side
Good Choice or Bad Choice: Good choice. Collins is what Emma Stone was before she broke out. She’s got some great attitude to go along with her pretty face, and just seeing her on this list proves the studio is aware of her future stardom. But is she a big enough name for Spider-Man, especially with the still relative unknown Garfield in the lead role?
Chances of Landing a Part: 60%

Where You Know Her From: Bedtime Stories, The Grudge 2, The Sorcerer’s Apprentice
Good Choice or Bad Choice: Good choice. Here’s another actress who’s about to break out in a big way (she’s slated to star in the upcoming sci-fi flick I Am Number Four, as well as the next Mad Max sequel), and if producers are looking to sex up the Gwen Stacy role, Palmer would be the better choice over Wasikowska (though the latter is a better actress).
Chances of Landing a Part: 80%

With a redhead, a brunette and two blondes in the running, it’s pretty obvious that two of these girls will fill the two lead female roles in the film. Which two is anyone’s guess. Who do you think should get the parts?
