Sure, he's known for kicking butt in the wrestling ring, but Dwayne Johnson has made a second career of playing the action hero in a number of movies over the years. With his latest movie Snitch arriving in theaters this weekend, we're putting it to a vote: what is The Rock's most butt-kicking movie?
Here are your options, but if you don't see your favorite non-WWE role listed below, feel free to sound off in the comment section below.
The Scorpion King
Following a cameo appearance in The Mummy Returns, Johnson scored a starring role in this spin-off as a desert warrior who rises up against an evil army that is destroying his homeland. The film co-starred Steven Brand, Kelly Hu and the late Michael Clarke Duncan.
Johnson headlines this all-star cast that includes Christopher Walken, Seann William Scott, Rosario Dawson and Ernie Reyes Jr. in an action comedy about an aspiring chef who is hired to bring a mobster's son home from the Amazon.
The adaptation of the video game misfired at the box office, but featured Johnson as Sarge. His space Marines are sent in to investigate strange events at a research facility on Mars when all hell (and first-person shooter angles) break loose.
Johnson stars as a former U.S. soldier who returns to find his hometown overrun by crime and corruption. But this is The Rock we're talking about, so you know for sure he's not going to let it go without a fight. He sets off on a mission to clean up his town and take out the trash in Kevin Bray's (Cold Case, Suits) 2004 crime flick.
While he's known for playing the tough guy action hero, Johnson takes a supporting role to flex his comedic muscles in the 2008 comedy Get Smart. The adaptation of the slapstick TV series from the '60s opened up a new audience for Johnson as he delved into more family oriented films.
Race to Witch Mountain
Speaking of family oriented films, this was one of them. Johnson plays a Vegas cab driver who helps protect two extraterrestrial siblings with paranormal powers from an evil organization that wants to use them for evil deeds.
After having his fill of family movies, Johnson moved back into the R-rated action movie genre with this gritty flick from George Tillman Jr. (Notorious, Soul Food). In the film, Johnson plays an ex-con who sets out on a quest to avenge his brother's death after they were double-crossed during a heist years ago. His Driver character works to carry out his revenge plot while evading Billy Bob Thornton's cop character as well as Oliver Jackson-Cohen's egocentric assassin who happens to have Maggie Grace along as eye candy.
The Rock vs. Vin Diesel. Need we say more? Johnson added a nice punch of machismo and brawn as he chased down Dom's crew in the fifth installment of the Fast & Furious franchise.
