Wolverine Haunted By Ghosts in Gritty Latest Trailer

When last we saw Wolverine (Hugh Jackman), he surprised fans with an amusing cameo in X-Men: First Class. Before THAT, though, the indestructible mutant warrior was mourning the loss of his true love, Jean Grey (Famke Janssen), in X-Men: The Last Stand. It’s there that we’re expecting to pick up James Mangold’s The Wolverine, whose latest trailer just came online  (and starts with a heavy Jean tease).

The clip establishes Logan as a haunted soldier, lost without Jean and reluctant to accept a new mission in Japan. After, the trailer goes through the beats of previous marketing materials: Wolverine being offered an end to his mutation; conflicts with the Yakuza; a fight with the Silver Samurai, who appears to move like a robotic Sentinel. It all looks amazing, and has us amped up for The Wolverine, and the further adventures of our favorite wild mutant.
We also have been hearing a lot about Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past, a sequel Jackman’s Wolverine will participate in. So we’re wondering how this movie will lead the story into Singer’s narrative. We also want to see if Jackman, with Mangold’s assistance, can deliver on the hard-hitting Wolvie story he has been promising fans for years.
In addition to the new trailer, Fox shared artistic character posters for Viper and Yukio. Check out these works of art!
The Wolverine opens on July 26 in 2D and 3D theaters.
