As with every Marvel project up until now, studio head Kevin Feige has put together a short list of actors to play the lead in the studios' next major project, Guardians of the Galaxy.
A little over a month ago, the studio confirmed that James Gunn would be directing the project and since then, the search has been on for who will play the leader of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Peter Quill.
Quill's character, in a nutshell, is the offspring of a human mother and an alien father. He leads a group of alien superheroes who team to protect the solar system from an evil race. In the comics, the Guardians worked with the Avengers, which will most likely pave the way for a massive blockbuster when Avengers 2 hits theaters in 2015.
The actors currently under consideration are (in order of images below) Joel Edgerton, who seems to appear on a lot of Marvel short lists; Lee Pace (The Hobbit, Lincoln), Jack Huston (Boardwalk Empire), Jim Sturgess (Cloud Atlas) and Eddie Redmayne from Les Miserables.
Deadline also reports that Garrett Hedlund, James Marsden and Sullivan Stapleton have also drawn interest from Marvel.
While Marvel weighs their choices, we'll turn it over to you. Who do you like for the role of Peter Quill?
Edgerton, Sturgess and Pace all have experience helming blockbuster tentpole films. Huston and Redmayne would be interesting choices while Hedlund headlined Disney's Tron: Legacy and Marsden anchored Fox's X-Men trilogy as Cyclops.
Guardians of the Galaxy is due in theaters August 1, 2014.
