We told you Superman casting stories would begin to heat up the internet, and now we’re back with a couple of guys who are rumored to be in the running for a major role in Zack Snyder’s upcoming Man of Steel movie.
Who'd You Rather: Viggo Mortensen or Daniel Day-Lewis as Superman Villain?
The Hollywood Reporter tells us that Viggo Mortensen is high on the list of actors they want to play the villainous General Zod in the 2012 film. Zod, played by Terence Stamp in Superman 2, was rumored to be the villain for awhile until Snyder squashed the talk early on (probably for fear of letting the cat out of the bag so quickly). Now, with rumors the production is searching for an actress to play Ursa (Zod’s partner in crime), it makes sense that this is, in fact, the direction they’re heading in. And considering that to be the case, then Mortsensen would be a perfect Zod.
Then again, one other actor rumored to be in the running is Daniel Day-Lewis, who Moviehole report is also a name on the wish-list. Day-Lewis, who won a Best Actor Oscar for his role in There Will Be Blood, would also be a tremendous catch for the production, though we have a hard time picturing the actor taking on a part in a superhero film. However, there’s no word on which role Day-Lewis could potentially take on (we assume General Zod), and, of course, nothing is official yet.
But we love these Who’d You Rather games, so sound off below and let us know which actor you’d rather see in Superman: Viggo Mortensen or Daniel Day-Lewis.
