The two-minute teaser Paramount released for J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness was just the beginning. Literally. It was a trailer for the full trailer, which – as we reported weeks ago – will be attached to IMAX prints of Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit when that blockbuster arrives in theaters on Dec. 14.
Where Can You See the 9-Minute 'Star Trek' IMAX Preview?
But where, exactly, will you be able to see this highly-anticipated footage?
Paramount clarified that the 9-minute reel attached to Hobbit will be the first nine minutes of the sequel. IMAX Filmed Entertainment Chairman and President Greg Poster was lucky enough to see it, and had this to say:
“Our longtime partners J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk and the Bad Robot team have really hit it out of the park – the footage is absolutely incredible. … Their use of the IMAX Camera and canvas is sure to impress current and future Star Trek fans alike, and we’re thrilled to once again work with our friends at Paramount Pictures to offer this extended ‘first look’ at this highly anticipated summer blockbuster.”
And if you want to find out what venues will be hosting the footage, Star Trek has set up a helpful site that breaks down IMAX screen locations. Click here to access that information.
Star Trek Into Darkness doesn’t open until May 17, 2013, but will be dominating headlines in December as fans prepare for the sequel. Will you be heading to an IMAX screen on Dec. 14 to see the 9-minute preview?
