Harry Potter News

What's Next for Harry Potter's Daniel Radcliffe?

Will he be stripping down to his birthday suit for another stage play? Will he star in a number of films featuring Harry Potter as a boring adult who uses his wizarding skills to fetch the morning newspaper? With the Harry Potter franchise finally behind him, Daniel Radcliffe is at a pivotal point in his career. Since he no longer has the boy wizard to fall back on, expect folks to watch his next few role choices very carefully.

Daniel Radcliffe as Harry Potter

Variety reports that Radcliffe has decided to board the remake train as he prepares to ditch Harry Potter once and for all. Thankfully, he's not remaking a classic 80s movie like Back to the Future or The Breakfast Club. Instead, he's going to tackle a remake of All Quiet on the Western Front, which is based on the 1929 novel by Erich Maria Remarque. It's been adapted twice before; once in 1930 and then again in 1979 as a made-for-TV miniseries. The book follows a man named Paul Baumer and his friends as they square off against the many atrocities of World War I.
It'll be awhile, though, before Radcliffe gets to show us what kind of big-screen soldier he'll make as he still has to fulfill an obligation to star in the Broadway show How to Succeed Without Really Trying, which will take him through early 2012. So, expect to see the Harry Potter star digging through the trenches of warfare at some point in 2013.
