One, two, Freddy's coming for you…and he looks a lot like Jackie Earle Haley. That's because the latest iconic horror franchise to get a fresh reboot has also brought with them a brand new star, as Watchmen's Jackie Earle Haley has now slipped into that red and black striped sweater made famous by Robert Englund in the original movies. With a release date of April 30, 2010, the re-vamped Nightmare on Elm Street has just debuted a trailer over on MySpace…and it's pretty damn wicked.
Watch the New 'Nightmare on Elm Street' Trailer
Unlike the previous incarnations, this version of Elm Street looks to bring us a Freddy Krueger that's much scarier and not as jokey. While the hat, sweater and claws remain the same, Freddy's face more closely resembles that of a burn victim's instead of an exact recreation of the old classic look. However, some scenes from the original Elm Street look to be back in some shape or form, like the famous bubble bath scene where Freddy's claw comes up from under the water.
I like how they added more of the mythology behind Freddy's death at the hands of an angry mob, and I look forward to revisiting what was perhaps the most fantastical of all the old 80's slasher franchises. Check out the trailer, and let us know what you think.
