Warner Bros. Moves Forward with 'Space Jam 2' Starring LeBron James

If you're a kid of the '90s, few films are more cherished than Space Jam. Michael Jordan teaming up with Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck and the rest of the Looney Tunes characters to take on a squad of alien hoopsters? Ah, precious childhood memories.

Warner Bros. is banking on that nostalgia by moving forward with a sequel to the 1996 film. Instead of Jordan throwing down monster dunks, the sequel is being structured as a starring role for LeBron James.

Broadcasting veteran Dick Ebersol's sons have come on board the project with Charlie Ebersol producing and Willie Ebersol writing the script. The sequel will be produced through Charlie's production company, the Company.

While there is no release date scheduled for Space Jam 2, the news does mark the second big sequel move by Warner Bros. today. Earlier today, the studio announced a May 27, 2017 release date for the sequel to The Lego Movie.

Space Jam 2 will likely feature a slew of NBA cameos and who knows, maybe Warner Bros. can get Bill Murray and Wayne Knight to strap on the sneakers for another game.

What do you think? Are you interested in a Space Jam sequel? If so, what NBA stars and Looney Tunes characters are you hoping to see in the movie?
