Warner Bros. Addresses Wonder Woman Rumors, Affleck as Batman and Zack Snyder's 'Great Story'

Ever since Zack Snyder dropped the Batman/Superman bomb at Comic-Con three months ago, there has been almost nonstop chatter about the film. One of the most buzzed-about topics centers on the appearance of Wonder Woman.

In an interview with Variety, Warner Bros.' President of Creative Development and Worldwide production Greg Silverman addressed those rumors, the studio's thoughts on Ben Affleck as Batman, and even segued into Harry Potter scribe J.K. Rowling's next project.

When asked about whether the film would introduce other DC Comics characters such as Wonder Woman, Green Lantern and the Flash to begin piecing together the Justice League, Silverman said:

"We have been doing a lot of thinking for years about how to best use all those characters and we love them. Wonder Woman is an amazing character. I think it's a great opportunity both for box office success, but also to have an amazingly powerful female superhero."

That sounds very promising in a round-about sort of manner.

When asked if Wonder Woman would have her own separate movie or be a part of Snyder's film, Silverman said, "We are taking it all very seriously and are trying to do a plan that's respectful to those characters and maximizes the stories as best they can. So everything that has been speculated are things that we've thought about."

So perhaps we'll see a love triangle?

The conversation turned to the movie itself and the casting of Ben Affleck as Batman. Silverman stressed that Snyder and writer David Goyer would "do both characters justice."

"We knew what the take of the movie was, we knew what the character was going to be. We don't take these decisions lightly. We thought about everybody: brand new people, established people. Ben is the perfect guy to play this role."

He also says the studio is very pleased and excited about the script that Snyder and Goyer have crafted.

"They've crafted a great story. It's just a great story that involves these amazing characters."
