Wait, There's Two 'Paranormal Activity' Sequels?

You may become a little confused this month as people mention both Paranormal Activity 2 and Paranormal Activity 2: Tokyo Night. No, they're not both the same movies; instead, the former is the American sequel we've been talking about for the past year, and the latter is a Japanese version that also happens to be a direct sequel to the original Paranormal Activity. Confused? So are we.

'Paranormal Activity 2: Tokyo Night'

See, Paranormal Activity 2: Tokyo Night (no relation to The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift) follows a Japanese student who returns home to Japan after visiting San Diego only to realize that she brought home a spirit instead of a t-shirt. That spirit happens to be the same one that haunted the couple in the original Paranormal Activity, which is how they're tying it all in. Weird to see a foreign sequel to a movie where the previous installment was an American version? Yes. But we'll go with it.
Your homegrown Paranormal Activity 2 – which we still don't know anything about, really, except that it involves a family this time instead of a couple – will arrive in theaters on October 22nd. Paranormal Activity 2: Tokyo Night (watch the Japanese-language trailer below) arrives this December.
