Upcoming 3D Movies: 'Green Lantern', 'Alien' Sequel & 'Sucker Punch'

AlienAs I've said previously on this here blog, James Cameron's Avatar has officially changed the way studios handle their big films from here on out … and, honestly, I'm not sure yet if it's for the better. Regardless of what folks like Cameron say about the right and wrong ways to use 3D (ie: films should be shot in 3D and not converted to 3D after the fact), studios like Warner Bros. are still plowing ahead – becoming one of the first to really embrace 3D and make it a part of a whole bunch of their upcoming films.

We already know that Clash of the Titans and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows will be converted to 3D, but now we're learning that The Green Lantern and Zack Snyder's (300, Watchmen) Sucker Punch will also be converted to 3D. (Note that Green Lantern has not begun filming yet, and, as such, we don't have definitive proof that it will convert to 3D in post-production -- but, seeing as they're keeping the same release date of June 14th, 2011, it'd be literally impossible for them to shoot in 3D and still make that date.)

Another film that will get the 3D treatment will be Ridley Scott's new Alien film, which the website Shadow Locked has confirmed will be in 3D. The exact quote, as per Alien art director Roger Christian, is that "Ridley's doing the next Alien in 3D." However, there's no word on whether Scott will shoot in 3D or if he'll convert it in post-production. Seeing as the next Alien movie (which we've heard will be a prequel to the original) will go through 20th Century Fox (who produced Avatar), there's a good chance a lot of the same technology Cameron used will be available to Scott so that he can shoot in 3D.

Question is, though, is Alien really a movie that needs to be in 3D? I don't know about you, but the first couple Alien movies did a great job of scaring me in regular old boring 2D. I don't feel like we need the extra dimension, at least not for this.
But what do you think? Which of these movies do you think will look best in 3D?
