Hey folks, this Thursday, March 4th, at 7:30 pm (in all times zones), you can help celebrate International Women’s Day 2010 by seeing Half the Sky, which will be showing in theaters nationwide. Inspired by the best-selling book from Pulitzer-prize winning journalists Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl WuDunn, Half the Sky will feature the world premiere of "Woineshet," the story of an impoverished Ethiopian woman who ultimately triumphs over sexual violence and discrimination. The short film is directed by Academy Award® Winner Marisa Tomei and Lisa Leone.
The showing will also be more than just a night at the movies. The one-night-only, interactive event includes musical performances by India.Arie, and others, and celebrity appearances from Maria Bello, Marisa Tomei, the Duchess of York and many more. The goal here is to motivate audiences to participate in a growing movement to empower women and girls in the fight against global poverty.
We'll be supporting Half the Sky by giving away a pair of tickets in each of 3 cities: Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco. To win a pair of tickets, Tweet @Fandango "Half the Sky LA" for LA Live tickets, "Half the Sky SF" for Century Centre tickets or "Half the Sky NY" for Regal Union Sq. tickets. Your tweet should be received by Wednesday, March 3rd at 4pm PST, and you'll need to be an @Fandango follower. Good luck!
