Twilight Writer to Pen Marvel Superhero TV Show, Jessica Jones

Those wondering where screenwriter Melissa Rosenberg will end up once she’s done piecing together the final Twilight chapter on the big screen should look no further than a piece in Variety that says Rosenberg will write and exec produce a new TV show called AKA Jessica Jones, based on a little-known Marvel character who was a superhero-turned-private investigator. Jones’ comic history has her coming into contact with everyone from Peter Parker (aka Spider-Man) to Johnny Storm to Daredevil, though it is not known whether any of these characters will appear in the TV series.

AKA Jessica Jones

The show is being developed for ABC’s fall 2011 lineup, and will be part of Marvel and Disney’s plan to bring more Marvel characters to the big and small screen. The Incredible Hulk and Wonder Woman also have television shows in development, though AKA Jessica Jones will likely be the first one on the air. The show also ties into Marvel’s desire to create more female-based superhero entertainment in order to widen their audience.
Do you think Melissa Rosenberg was a good choice for this show? Is it something you’ll watch? And if so, who should they cast as Jessica Jones?
