Well, the studios seem to be using the week before Thanksgiving to debut a whole slew of trailers for some of the most anticipated films of 2011. Let's take a look at what's out (and hot) right now…
Trailer Watch: 'Green Lantern,' 'Cowboys and Aliens' and 'Red Riding Hood'
The director of Iron Man and Iron Man 2 (Jon Favreau) brings us an epic battle this summer that will find a group of vintage cowboys teaming up with indians in order to defend themselves against an alien attack. The first trailer teases what look to be some pretty badass action sequences that expertly blend some gritty Old West charm with the horror of scary sci-fi movies. And if none of the above works for you, then you have to admit a cast that includes Daniel Craig, Harrison Ford, Sam Rockwell and Olivia Wilde should be enough to get your butt into a seat…right? Check it out below and let us know what you think. Cowboys and Aliens crash-lands into theaters on July 29th.
The first trailer for the next big DC superhero movie has arrived in the form of Ryan Reynolds taking on role of Hal Jordan, otherwise known as the iconic superhero Green Lantern. The finished film will be extremely heavy on special effects – especially since a lot of it does take place outside the planet Earth – so some early criticisms have been lobbed in the direction of the effects work, even though it should look much better when complete. Overall, I dig the trailer – which sets up a story about a pilot who comes in possession of a ring that gives him access to some pretty wicked super powers – and I'm definitely curious to see who wins the Marvel vs. DC battle this summer as Green Lantern goes up against two Marvel adversaries in Thor and Captain America. Check it out below and let us know what you think. This one drops on June 17th.
Catherine Hardwicke was booted from the Twilight franchise after directing the first installment, but now she's back with what looks exactly like a Twilight sequel, except with different actors. Yup, the whole forbidden love thing is in there, plus the supernatural elements with the inclusion of at least one Big Bad Wolf. The film stars Amanda Seyfried as our Red Riding Hood, whose medieval village is on guard against some sort of werewolf creature that keeps attacking them. Said creature, however, is also a local resident; one who may or may not be in love with our pretty girl in the red hood.
I have to admit some of the visuals of the red against the white snow are pretty to look at, but the tone (love story or badass werewolf movie?) will need to show itself more in order to attract the right audience. Give us your thoughts below, and look for this in theaters on March 11th.
Which of these trailers was your favorite?
