Trailer: Gosling, Brolin, Ribisi Hunt Down Sean Penn in 'Gangster Squad'

As audience attendance goes up this summer, a few of fall’s heaviest hitters are hoping to grab moviegoers’ attention while they wait for the latest blockbuster. Case in point:  Rueben Fleischer's crime drama Gangster Squad, which boasts an impressive cast that includes Ryan Gosling, Josh Brolin, Sean Penn, Emma Stone, Giovanni Ribisi, Nick Nolte and Michael Pena.

The film doesn't come out until Oct. 19, but today we get our first look at what Fleischer has cooked up in this film that chronicles the LAPD's fight to keep the East Coast mafia-types out of Los Angeles in the 1940s and 50s. The film is an adaptation of Paul Lieberman's novel.

Check out the trailer below and let us know what you think of Penn as the bad guy and Brolin as the hero with Gosling and others as his sidekick… and goodness, Emma Stone.
