'Thor: The Dark World' Trailer Transports Marvel Fans to Asgard and Beyond

Marvel’s Phase Two hasn’t even officially begun – not till May 2 when Iron Man 3 reaches theaters – and we’re already deep into content for multiple pictures that will carry us all the way to The Avengers 2.

Later this year, after Tony Stark has had his way with The Mandarin, Marvel promises a return to Asgard where we’ll catch up with Thor (Chris Hemsworth), son of Odin, for Thor: The Dark World. The first trailer for the epic adventure just dropped, and it answers a few important questions while also setting up the larger scope of the superhero sequel.

Watch the trailer below:

So now we know that Thor will be reunited with his beloved, Jane (Natalie Portman), and that together they’ll face new dangers in Asgard and beyond. The main threat in The Dark World is Malekith (Christopher Eccleston), though we see at the end of the clip that mischievous Loki (Tom Hiddleston) is still in play after all of the damage he caused in The Avengers.

Thor: The Dark World is directed by Alan Taylor, who also helmed episodes of HBO’s Game of Thrones, so you know that he has a feel for this type of magical, majestic material. The sequel will be in theaters on Nov. 8. What do you think of the first extended clip?
