‘Thor’ Movie Trailer Arrives Online

It may be beginning to look a lot like Christmas, but it’s also beginning to look a lot like next summer. Studios have been busy readying trailers for their big summer blockbusters and slowly rolling them out throughout December. So far we’ve seen Transformers: Dark of the Moon, with Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides arriving next week.

Now Paramount has decided to unleash the trailer for Marvel’s Thor – unquestionably one of the more buzzed-about films of 2011, if only because it’s the first big Marvel movie to arrive outside the Iron Man and Incredible Hulk universes. And also because it’s the first film to really begin to set up 2012’s Avengers movie (not to mention the first Marvel film to arrive in 3D).
Starring Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Kat Dennings, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston and more, Thor will follow the powerful but arrogant warrior after he’s banished from his home planet and sent to earth, where he’ll eventually be forced to defend his adopted planet from an all-too-familiar force. This first trailer gives us a taste of it all – the characters, the separate worlds, the action – but it doesn’t give too much of its tricks away … yet. Question now is: How will Thor compare to Captain America, due out two months later?
Watch the new trailer below, courtesy of Yahoo Movies, and let us know what you think. Thor hits theaters on May 6th.
