'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' to Go IMAX!

Summit Entertainment has announced in a joint statement with the IMAX Corp. that The Twilight Saga: Eclipse will become the first film in the Twilight franchise to hit IMAX screens as well as conventional theaters on June 30th, 2010. While none of the scenes in the film were shot with IMAX cameras (like Christopher Nolan did with The Dark Knight), Twi-hards across the world should be pretty stoked at the chance to geek out over Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner while watching them on the biggest big screen on earth.

Not only will fans have a chance to watch their favorite Twilight stars on the massive IMAX screen, but the franchise will certainly be poised to break even more records when the third installment hits theaters this summer. Sure, folks will be talking about the same weekend records as before, but now we'll have IMAX records to deal with – and I wouldn't be surprised when it's all said and done to see Eclipse break every IMAX record that currently exists.
Then again, is this the sort of film that belongs on an IMAX screen? What do you think? Will you go to see Eclipse in IMAX or on the regular screen…or both?
