'The Lone Ranger' Photos Hint At A Throwback, Action-Packed Western
Gore Verbinski’s The Lone Ranger has endured a difficult production stage that was marred by budget concerns, schedule issues and the unfortunate death of a crew member during the routine cleaning of an underwater special effects tank. But new photos giving us our first great looks at Ranger finally shift the conversation over the actual film, itself, and it’s looking like Verbinski’s hardships might lead to a Western classic.
Verbinski sat down with USA Today to elaborate on what he calls “a dysfunctional buddy movie” with Johnny Depp and Armie Hammer in his leading roles. The imagery Verbinski captured in Monument Valley, Utah is stunning (as seen in the first photo below). And the subsequent photos promise tons of action … something Depp and Verbinski delivered in three Pirates of the Caribbean movies.
The Lone Ranger recently wrapped production, and is now buckling in for post-production so it can hit its July 3, 2013 release date. Do you think you’ll climb into the saddle with Depp and Hammer for the ride?
