The Lead Villain in 'Guardians of the Galaxy' Is…

Lee Pace!

Those of you who aren't fans of The Hobbit or the late-2000's TV series Pushing Daisies are probably saying, "Lee, who?" This guy:

Pace has had a solid run over the past decade appearing in the aforementioned productions as well as playing roles in The Fall, The Resident, Twilight: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 and last year's Oscar nominee leader Lincoln.

With two more Hobbit movies locked into place, The Wrap reports that Pace has added Guardians of the Galaxy to his list of upcoming projects. The identity of the villainous character is being kept under wraps, but his casting is the latest for the Phase Two project that begins filming in June.

Chris Pratt was cast as Star Lord last month with Zoe Saldana joining the cast as Gamora shortly thereafter. WWE star Dave Bautista continues his expansion into the film world by playing Drax the Destroyer and Michael Rooker will portray skilled hunter Yondu.

Remaining Guardians left to be cast include extraterrestrial tree monster Groot and the fan favorite, Rocket Raccoon.

Early fan speculation had the lead villain being Magus, the evil, alternate personality of the heroic Adam Whitlock. Magus traveled to the past and ruled a religious empire called the Universal Church of Truth. Another rumored villain is The Controller, Thanos' main henchman. THR reported yesterday that Ophelia Lovibond was cast in a supporting role as "an aide to the near-immortal being called The Collector."

So who do you think Pace is playing in the film?

Guardians of the Galaxy arrives in theaters August 1, 2014.
