‘The Fighter’ Trailer Lands Punches to Mark Wahlberg and Christian Bale

Yes, that skinny, strung-out troublemaker you see there in that new trailer for The Fighter is Batman. Well, he’s not exactly Batman – he’s Christian Bale, the actor who’s played Batman twice for Christopher Nolan, and now he’s once again losing himself (and his weight) in a role that takes him from the Batmobile to the rough-and-tough streets of Boston for a drama about boxing that may remind you of a little franchise starring Sylvester Stallone.

Mark Wahlberg is 'The Fighter'

Based on the real-life story of the boxer “Irish” Mickey Ward, The Fighter – which was directed by notorious troublemaker David O. Russell (Three Kings) – follows the early years of the famous boxer (Mark Wahlberg), who, with help from his hardened brother (Bale) trains hard enough to become a pro boxer and cause some serious damage. The newly released trailer looks great, even if it does give a little too much away. Like Rocky, we’re introduced to a gritty, blue-collar neighborhood where one kid strives to be the best boxer he can be. Will it lead to championships or bitter defeat? The trailer shows us both sides (plus Amy Adams in what could be her sexiest role ever), so we’ll just have to wait till December 10th to see how this truly pans out.

Watch the trailer below and let us know what you think. Will you fight to see The Fighter this December?
