'The Croods 2' Gets the Greenlight at DreamWorks Animation

This is what happens when your original, animated adventure/comedy grosses more than $385 million worldwide: You get the chance to make a sequel.

And so DreamWorks Animation announced at Las Vegas CinemaCon (via ComingSoon) that The Croods 2 was moving forward at the studio. Croods is taking a page out of the Ice Age book, building a film franchise out of prehistoric characters who – once freed from the confines of their initial cave – are able to explore a wealth of rich storylines.

Contracts are going through the next stages, but ComingSoon reports that co-directors Chris Sanders and Kirk DeMicco are coming back, as is most of the vocal cast. That would include Nicolas Cage, Emma Stone, Ryan Reynolds, Catherine Keener and Clark Duke.

More on The Croods 2 as it eventually develops, but for now, did you like the first movie? And are you glad the characters are going to come back for a sequel?
