The teaser trailer for Ridley Scott's thriller The Counselor arrived online earlier today. The film centers on a lawyer who gets mixed up in drug trafficking. First, here's the teaser. It's quick, lots of jump cuts and over before you know it.
OK, wait a minute now. There's a lot going on in those 44 seconds. Let's take a closer look.
So this wire gets set up in the evening hours and no one drives down this road until night when a motorcyclist meets his demise.
Actually, "Director of Gladiator and Alien/Black Hawk Down/Thelma & Louise/Blade Runner," would be better.
Eyes on the road… actually, I guess his head's on the road now.
What is going on here? Did American Eagle Outfitters insert a few frames into this teaser?
Seriously... There's a cheetah just chilling with these people.
Cheetah even gets its own poolside lounge chair. Notice Michael Fassbender in the dark shirt/khaki pants walking fearlessly toward the spotted kitty.
Cut to pouty Cameron Diaz and Brad Pitt telling her, "You don't have any friends." They cut out the part where he says, "That's what you get for starring in What to Expect When You're Expecting and The Box."
But seriously, look at Cameron rockin' that black dress!
No he's not levying threats at any zombies… unless that motorcyclist came back from the dead as a headless zombie. Ooo, sequel idea!
Blink and you'll miss this hint at a double cross moment where you can no longer trust the police in this movie.
Not so nervous Fassbender.
Oh, hello 5/6ths of Peneolpe Cruz's face shot at an artistic angle randomly inserted into this trailer.
Based on this trailer, I have no idea who she plays, but she clearly seems amused by something/someone.
More pouty Diaz.
Good thing he didn't wax the car!
The single best frame from this entire teaser. This guy and his wacky hairstyles.
Cruz: "Have you been bad?"
And Fassbender's thinking, "Well that depends on what you mean by bad. Wait, this isn't Shame!.. But I am Magneto." Seriously, we haven't heard him speak this entire trailer. Is he mute?
I know, crying guy at the end. I can't wait until November 15 when this wacky roller coaster arrives in theaters either. (Something tells me he's not crying about the release date.)
Now that you're had a closer look at Ridley Scott's latest, what are your thoughts? Do you like this teaser? Are you excited for this film?
